Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is a specialty of medicine that endeavors to heal and restore patients with injury or disfigurement by means of surgery. The word “plastic”, originates from the Greek word “plastikos’ and means molding or giving form. It does not refer to the synthetic materials that are occasionally used. At Changes Plastic Surgery, Dr. Lee is an expert in reconstructive surgery of all parts of the body including faces, extremities, breasts, back, abdomen, and genitalia. Often Microsurgery, a highly technical type of reconstructive surgery is required to reconstruct body parts out of distant tissue sources.

Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve function, but may also be done to restore a normal appearance such as is the case with breast reconstruction.
