BodyTite | The Future of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is constantly evolving with new medical devices and treatment options. What sets Changes Plastic Surgery & Spa apart from other aesthetic centers is a discerning and objective review of emerging devices. Some simply do not live up to the promises. Not so with the BodyTite radiofrequency device from InMode Aesthetics. BodyTite offers a completely scarless and minimally invasive alternative to traditional plastic surgery procedures such as tummy tuck, thigh lift and arm lift.
For over 20 years I have sought the ability to tighten skin. Though many new devices promise tighter skin, BodyTite and FaceTite are the only devices I’ve found which truly produce noticeable changes. – Gilbert Lee, M.D.
Dr. Gilbert Lee obtained the BodyTite device in 2016 and was the first in San Diego to research, trial and endorse the system. He is recognized by InMode Aesthetics as an educator and luminary for BodyTite. BodyTite device uses radio frequency energy to contract and shrink fat, skin and subcutaneous tissue with absolute precision. There has never been a device on the market that could deliver results that look surgical in scale yet require a fraction of the downtime of traditional surgery—and is completely incisionless and scarless.
All radio frequency treatments use two electrodes, one internal and one external to heat the tissues it targets to tighten and contract the fibrous septal bands which secure the skin to the body. Dr. Lee coined the phrase “shrink wrapping” to describe the action of the BodyTite device.
BodyTite procedure is an excellent option for patients hoping to improve the appearance of abdominal skin laxity, sagging upper arms, draping skin on the thighs, and excess skin along the bra line. BodyTite is performed in the Changes Center for Scarless Surgery procedure room under local sedation. A small gauge cannula inserted through tiny discreet poke holes delivers the radio frequency heat, liquefying fat and contracting tissues.
BodyTite vs Liposuction
BodyTite and liposuction surgery may seem similar at first. But upon closer inspection, there are many notable differences between the two surgical procedures.
BodyTite is a scarless, incisionless and minimally invasive surgical procedure. It involves the use of an InMode Aesthetics radiofrequency device, which leverages a combination of fat coagulation and volumetric heating to minimize fat, skin and subcutaneous tissue and deliver proven results. Plus, BodyTite has been shown to help patients address visible signs of aging in the upper arms, abdomen, belly, thighs and other parts of the body.
Comparatively, liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that involves the removal of fat from the body. Liposuction is typically performed by a plastic or dermatologic surgeon, and it may be used to address fat in the hips, belly, thighs and other parts of the body. Additionally, liposuction is commonly performed in conjunction with facelifts, breast reduction and other facial plastic surgeries.
Like any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with liposuction. Common risks associated with liposuction include bleeding, infection and shock.
Liposuction candidates are generally non-smokers, possess firm, elastic skin and are within 30% of their ideal weight. Furthermore, doctors often won’t recommend liposuction surgery for people dealing with diabetes, heart disease and other medical conditions.
The results of liposuction are permanent, but a patient usually needs to follow a specific diet and exercise regularly following treatment. A liposuction patient who follows dietary and exercise guidelines may be well-equipped to maintain his or her treatment results.
For those who are evaluating both BodyTite and liposuction procedures, Changes Plastic Surgery can help. We understand the challenges associated with selecting the right plastic surgery based on an individual’s needs, and we work with each patient to help him or her determine the best treatment option. We are happy to provide full details about a wide array of plastic surgeries, explain how each surgery works and respond to any treatment concerns or questions. Also, we perform an in-depth patient evaluation prior to any plastic surgery. This evaluation allows us to determine if a patient qualifies for BodyTite or any other plastic surgery and craft a plan to help this individual achieve the optimal treatment results.
BodyTite – Better Than CoolSculpting?
BodyTite can be a safe, reliable alternative to CoolSculpting. Here’s why.
For starters, CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical treatment designed to freeze and eliminate unwanted fat. During a CoolSculpting procedure, a clinician gently cools fat cells under the skin. The clinician uses CoolSculpting technology to carefully target fat cells without affecting the skin. And if the CoolSculpting system detects the skin is getting too cold, it shuts down on its own.
Not all individuals are eligible for CoolSculpting, and the procedure is not recommended for people who are severely overweight. Also, patients sometimes experience redness, swelling and bruising following a CoolSculpting procedure.
CoolSculpting can also require up to 12 treatment sessions, is more expensive and does not tighten the skin. BodyTite procedures on the other hand, can be completed in as little as one treatment session and is therefore less expensive in comparison. Most importantly, BodyTite tightens the skin, which CoolSculpting can not.
Each BodyTite procedure is performed by Dr. Lee, a triple board-certified and trusted plastic surgery expert. Dr. Lee strives to help each patient minimize fat, and to accomplish this goal, is happy to offer insights into BodyTite and other treatment options. That way, Dr. Lee helps each patient determine if BodyTite or another procedure is the best treatment option based on his or her individual needs.

Between these two parts of the tool is a carefully-controlled thermal field. The field provides fast heating that is nonetheless totally uniform and strictly targeted. The heat melts the fat beneath the skin and contracts the skin and tissues simultaneously. Meanwhile, throughout the procedure, the temperature of the patient’s skin is monitored and protected by system safeguards to prevent any chance of burning.
The BodyTite procedure provides immediate improvement, but it keeps working long after the treatment is over. This means the most noticeable results can be visible within three to six months of the treatment with continued skin contraction for up to one year.

- The incisionless arm lift using the BodyTite RFAL system ensures that you do not have a visible scar from your underarm to elbow as seen in traditional arm lifts (brachioplasty).
- Your surgeon will determine if the BodyTite RFAL would be a good fit for you. Patients with an excess amount of skin, particularly those who have had massive weight loss, would be advised to have a traditional arm lift where the skin can be excised.
- The fee is variable based on the surface area to be treated and the time needed to perform the procedure. The general cost of BodyTite would be $9,000 to $10,200.
