Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite

Cellulite is an extremely common skin condition that causes flesh to take on a lumpy, dimpled appearance. It is most commonly seen on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen and affects more women than men. The exact cause of cellulite is unknown, but it appears to occur as a result of the interaction between the connective tissues and layer of fat below the skin. This is because, in women, the fat cells and connective tissues in these layers are positioned vertically, and if the fat cells protrude into the layer of the skin, it causes the lumpy appearance that characterizes cellulite. Men have these layers arranged in a criss-cross pattern, which makes it much harder for the fat cells to push through the skin.

Cellulite may be common, but it still causes many people who suffer from it to feel embarrassed about their appearance. Some external products may claim to be able to reduce the appearance of cellulite, but the results of these are often poor. Fortunately, there are some cosmetic treatments that are far more effective.

We are delighted to be able to offer patients the following, highly successful cellulite treatments.

ZWave

ZWave is an advanced FDA approved cellulite treatment which is ideal for patients with fairly mild cellulite, stretch marks and other light scarring. ZWave uses soft pulse technology to deliver high energy yet mild, consistent sound waves that are scientifically proven to have a positive impact on collagen structure and the connective tissues of the skin. Through improved circulation, collagen formulation is stimulated, causing the skin to become firmer, tighter and more elastic than before. This helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite.

Most patients find that they require several sessions of ZWave treatments in order to see the best results. The exact number of sessions will vary between patients, but typical treatment programs contain between six and twelve ZWave sessions.

SAFE Technique

SAFE stands for Separation, Aspiration and Fat Equalization. This is a procedure whereby the connective bands that cause the dimpling in cellulite are cut, enabling the area to look flatter and smoother. The SAFE technique does not use laser or heat-based tools, which can potentially damage or scar the surrounding tissue.

In most cases, the SAFE technique is performed as an out-patient meaning that you can go home the same day. Although minimally invasive, patients should allow a number of days to recover from their procedure and be sure to follow the post-surgical instructions given to them as this will minimize the risk of complications arising following the procedure.

Changes Subcision and Fat Grafting

Subcision is a commonly performed procedure for treating scarring, wrinkles and indeed, cellulite. It is performed using a special hypodermic needle that is inserted through a puncture in the skin surface. The sharp edge of the needle is used to break the fibers which are tethering the area of cellulite to the underlying tissue. Then, fat grafting is used to fill the empty areas that have been left. Using our unique Changes technique, we can precisely identify and locate each individual connective band that causes cellulite indentations and cut the fibers. This allows for an intensely focused and highly successful result.
