Anti-Aging Skin Remodeling with Morpheus8 and Fractora

The skin is one of the biggest betrayers of the aging process. As we get older, the production of collagen and elastin, two essential components of smooth, youthful skin, starts to decelerate. This unavoidable change, combined with the accumulative effects of sun damage, pollution and other environmental factors can cause the skin to start to age rapidly, becoming drier, less elastic and prone to lines, wrinkles and discoloration.

Nobody is ever happy about the aging process, but fortunately, there are things that you can do to help counteract the effect that getting older has on your skin.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 is a microneedling treatment that is combined with radiofrequency energy in order to remodel and contour the face and body. It does this by targeting the deeper layers of the skin with the RF energy in order to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is one of the fundamental building blocks of strong, healthy skin. Morpheus8 can even be combined with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy to enhance the results of the treatment even further. The result of Morpheus8 treatment is firmer, stronger and more youthful than before that has an anti-aging effect on your appearance.

What happens in a Morpheus8 procedure?

Since Morpheus8 uses the microneedling technique, topical anesthetic is administered ahead of treatment to ensure that you remain comfortable for the duration of your appointment. The Morpheus8 device is handheld and your technician will place it over the target area where it will emit RF energy into the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Meanwhile the microneedles create dozens of tiny injuries to the skin, stimulating the area to heal itself by producing fresh, new skin. At the same time, the warmth generated by the RF energy also breaks down some of the fat in the cells so that it can be metabolized. This helps to reduce the number of fat cells in the area.

The entire Morpheus8 procedure should last around 30 minutes, and afterwards, you can expect your skin to look red and slightly swollen. Since the effects rely on natural body processes, it will be at least a few days before you start to notice the results of your procedure. Skin will look smoother, tighter and more youthful.

Fractora

Fractora is a popular alternative to Morpheus8 and shares many similarities with it. It too uses a combination of microneedling with RF to create a therapeutic effect. Again, dozens of tiny micro-injuries are created in the skin which helps stimulate the body’s natural healing response, while RF energy heats the fat cells to liquefy them and prompts the production of collagen and elastin to repair the area and remodel the skin so that it is smoother, tighter and more youthful.

Fractora can cause slightly more discomfort than Morpheus8, and some patients may be given an injectable anesthetic rather than just a topical variety. A cold air chiller may also be used to help cool the skin while the treatment is being performed, which helps to prevent some of the discomfort. Downtime following Fractora is also usually longer than with Morpheus8, with the exact amount of time required depending on the depth of the treatment you have had and the size of the area you’ve had treated. Unsurprisingly, the deeper the treatment penetrates your skin, the deeper the healing should begin and the more noticeable the effects should be.
