Gynecomastia is a condition in males where the breast tissue is swollen. (It is commonly also referred to as “man boobs”).  At any age and whether just one or both breasts are affected, the appearance of swollen breast tissue can cause emotional discomfort.

Unkind as it may sound, this unfortunate moniker is actually listed in several contemporary dictionaries including Wikipedia and the Urban Dictionary and is the subject of more than a few social media memes. Women who have been accused of having a resting “bitch” face are neither resting nor bitchy, cranky or tired. A particular position of the eyebrow, frown lines or a downward slant to the mouth can give the appearance of being unhappy, mad, aloof or well, bitchy.

Botox and Dysport are both injectable proteins that relax the muscles that cause wrinkles through repeated movement.  If you’re a Botox aficionado chances are you’re familiar with the 3 most common injection sites; the forehead to soften horizontal lines, the area between the eyebrows (the glabella) to eliminate the 11’s (vertical frown lines) and the crow’s feet (wrinkles caused by squinting). But these wrinkle relaxing agents have so many more applications.

It’s not easy to make the decision about surgically enhancing one’s appearance. Because of this, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gilbert Lee makes sure to offer up the very best professional advice by thoroughly and genuinely listening to the goals of the patient.

The lymph system is the body’s natural cleansing mechanism, ridding our cells of toxic fluids. Without a functional lymphatic system, the body swells and aches, and we feel sluggish and even sick. Lymphatic drainage massage can help the lymphatic system flush these fluids, and jump start the cleansing process when the body has built up too much swelling.

Voting is strict.

If you stay abreast of breast implant news, you have probably heard of “gummy bear” implants. No, the candy companies are not making the beloved candy anatomically correct. Rather these silicone gel implants (FDA approved in March, 2012) have earned their nickname for their form-stable consistency.

Some also have extra skin and fat, which creates a hooded look. There is no denying the beauty of Asian eyes, but to some women and men of Asian descent desire a more distinct fold. Double eyelid surgery or Asian blepharoplasty creates a natural crease in the eyelid that appears when the eyes are open, but not when they are closed.

With so many skin care products crowding the shelves of drug stores and department stores, it can be downright confusing on what your skin really needs. Big advertisers tell us we need this or that for acne or wrinkles or sagging or sun spots, but why? What’s the secret ingredient in the latest hocus pocus magic potion lotion?

If you’re old enough to remember Madge and her clients soaking their hands in a bowl of Palmolive Dish Soap, chances are you have old lady hands yourself. We take such precious care that our faces defy our chronological age, yet without the same attention paid to our hands they’re a dead give-away of our real age. Keeping the hands moisturized is a start but even Madge’s magic Palmolive will do nothing to improve the topography of bulging veins and knobby tendons.
