About Laser Hair Removal

It is a non-invasive laser specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back, as well as more sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line. The first generation of Hair Removal Lasers was introduced in the early 1990’s. This set of lasers was more effective at slowing down hair growth than actually stopping hair growth. The second generation of lasers introduced in the late 1990’s was more effective at actual hair removal, but often caused injury or burns to the skin. The "Cool Glide Laser" is the newest and safest generation of Hair Removal Systems. Because of its unique wavelength, it allows the flexibility to treat all skin types and colors with the least risk of skin injury. Now even sun-tanned patients or those with darker pigmentation may be treated. And, the effectiveness of the "Cool Glide Laser" has been scientifically shown to produce the best hair removal available today.

Another benefit of the "Cool Glide Laser" is its ability to treat and remove unwanted and unsightly spider veins and age spots. Such veins and age spots may be present on the face, legs, hands or ankles. This laser is particularly beneficial for veins which are not suitable for sclerotherapy or vein stripping.
Before Your Treatment
Although our laser allows us to treat patients with tans, we strongly recommend that individuals keep treated areas out of the sun for 10 days prior to undergoing laser treatment. This will minimize potential side effects to the skin which can be caused by the laser. During your consultation, your doctor or nurse will discuss with you the potential benefits and risks of these treatments.
Your Laser Treatment
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefit depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and color, and your hair’s growth cycle. During your treatment, local anesthetic cream will be applied to the skin. After numbing the skin, your laser treatment will be performed. There may be some mild discomfort associated with the treatment. Because of our special cooling head which cools the skin prior to laser treatment, discomfort is held to a minimum. The treatments may last from15 minutes for smaller areas to 1 hour and 15 minutes for large areas like the back. After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. We also recommend that you not tan the treated area for 2 weeks after the laser treatment.
